Dakshineswar Kali Temple has now become a center of international interest and national importance. Seat of the Indian Reformation movement, Dakshineswar is being revived and renewed now through a serjes of planned measures. With heritage tourism as the objective and riverfront reclamation, as a major plank of the new development strategy, the KMDA (with assistance from the Union Tourism Ministry) has constructed a Dala Arcade for providing common facilities to devotees/ tourists.
To develop cultural tourism, Department of Tourism, Government of India and Tourism Department, Government of West Bengal jointly through KMDA prepared a detailed plan for beautification of Dakshineswar Kali Temple complex. It may be mentioned that KMDA has already completed the beautification work on the bank of River Ganga on the side of Temple including reconstruction of Kuthibari. The Dala Arcade is also a part of this beautification project. After the completion of the project, 58 Stall Holders will be rehabilitated. At present 29 stalls have already been allotted. The total estimated project cost of this project is 132.24 lakhs. Government of India, Department of Tourism, has so far released 67.12 lakhs for this project.
