Yojana) : |
|
VAMBAY (Valmiki Ambedkar Awas Yojana) is a centrally sponsored scheme
targeted for providing housing to the urban poor with a view to creating
slumless cities. Under the scheme, Govt. of India provides 50% subsidy for
the construction of dwelling units. In the case of KMA, the cost of each
dwelling unit is about Rs. 60,000/-. So, the GOI's subsidy is Rs.30,000/-
per dwelling unit. The cost of land as well as cost of the infrastructure
services is being borne by KMDA/State Govt. The beneficiaries are mainly
downtrodden people of the society belonging to SC, ST, Backward Classes,
Other weaker sections (OBC, BC, etc.) and physically & mentally handicapped
persons and others.
KMDA has embarked upon a programme of construction of 2190 one-roomed
self-contained dwelling units each having an area chiefly varying between
219-220 sq.ft. per unit in 3/4 storied buildings.
